Workshops content
Workshop 1 : Availability of WFD related research information Facilitator : Kees Kramer (QualityConsult) The WISE-RTD Portal has been linked to WFD relevant research results (FP5, FP6, Interreg, COST, LIFE programmes). Details will be provided on the type of information available together with a quantitative overview of relevant research projects and information sources. Availability and accessibility of project information are crucial for efficient information transfer. Statistics on research information collated by the SPI-Water project and currently included in the WISE-RTD Web Portal will be presented. A discussion on future needs and challenges concludes this workshop.
>> Presentation on the availability of WFD related research information
Workshop 2 : Background of the WISE-RTD Web Portal Facilitator : Patrick Willems (K.U.Leuven) The method used for the "smart" linking of information in the WISE-RTD Web Portal will be explained. It will be discussed how WFD implementation tasks, guidances, tools, case-studies, etc. are interlinked in the Web Portal by means of keywords and keyword combinations. It also will be demonstrated how this system can support the science-policy interfacing for different types of users.
>> Presentation on the background of the WISE-RTD Web Portal
Workshop 3 : Intelligent support to upload project information to WISE-RTD Facilitators : Jurgen Plyson (2Mpact), Kees Kramer (QualityConsult) The SPI-Water project uploaded a host of WFD relevant research information to the WISE RTD Portal. A tool was developed that enables efficient but coherent information transfer. This tool, the Web Portal Input System (WPIS), has been tuned to allow any project coordinator to enter (WFD) relevant project information to WISE-RTD. WPIS will be explained and details on its operation and 'back-office' activities will be provided. A discussion on future needs and implementation concludes this Workshop.
>> Presentation on the Web Portal Input System
Workshop 4 : Facilitating IWRM in non-EU countries, cases Facilitators : Pierre Strosser (ACTeon), Katharina Kober (MENBO) The objective is to explain the use of WISE-RTD specifically in non-EU countries, to describe realised work with ABHS (Morocco) and LRA (Lebanon) and to disseminate lessons learnt within these cases. It will be concluded with a discussion on : What can be obstacles for future projects in ABHS and LRA? What are the necessary conditions? What should be improved in the proposals?
>> Presentation on concrete activities regarding the non-EU pilot River Basins
>> Presentation on the practical experience in the Sebou Basin (Morocco); Presentation sur l'expérience de l'ABHS dans le cadre du projet SPI-Water
>> Presentation on the practical experience in the Litani Basin (Lebanon)
Workshop 5 : Facilitating IWRM in non-EU countries, best practices Facilitators : Natacha Jacquin & Yannick Pochon (OIEAU), Katharina Kober (MENBO) Presentation of recommendations to be disseminated to non-EU countries and within the strategy of the Joint Process. Review of successful knowledge transfer to non-EU counties. Discussion on : What are the main obstacles to implement the recommendations (in general and specifically for some of the recommendations)? How to remove the obstacles to facilitate the implementation of the recommendations? How to improve them? Formulate lessons learned from the SPI-Water project and identification of necessary follow-up activities to implement some recommendations in short, medium and long term.
>> Presentation on guidelines and recommendations on the transfer IWRM and WFD knowledge to non-EU countries
>> Presentation on recommendations on twinning between Basin Organisations
>> Presentation on SPI-Water results regarding IWRM transfer to non-EU countries
Workshop 6 : Interlinking with the AquaTerra Integrator (EUGRIS, …) Facilitators : Antony Chapman (AquaTerra), Wim de Lange (Deltares) INTEGRATOR aims to merge natural sciences with economic and social sciences by integrating new knowledge and stakeholder needs. It develops approaches and conceptual tools for the decision-making process and aims at stakeholders and decision makers. A first assessment of social and economic impacts of simulated policies will be shown in terms of change in economic and environmental conditions. The elaboration of decision support systems for different stakeholders incorporates scientific results of AquaTerra, thus providing a first scientific basis for decision-making.
>> Presentation on the integration of European environmental information
Workshop 7 : Interlinking aspects of IWRM-net related information Facilitators : Stephen Midgley (IWRM), Wim de Lange (Deltares) The objective is to exchange information on the aim and construction of databases related to ERA-Net and IWRM-Net. It includes presentations on : IWRM-Net, CIRCLE, CRUE and SKEP. The workshop concludes with a short discussion on interlinking.
>> Presentation on IWRM-Net database and Knowledge Management tool
>> Presentation on ERA-Net CRUE's database system CRUISE
Workshop 8 : Experience and synthesis on interlinking with WISE-RTD Facilitators : Wim de Lange (Deltares), Jurgen Plyson (2Mpact) The objective is to exchange information and make a synthesis on interlinking of databases related to WISE-RTD. It includes the presentations on the experiences of interlinking within SPI-Water. The workshop concludes with a concluding discussion on interlinking (taking into account workshops 6 and 7), gains and losses, efforts, facilitation of external parties.
>> Presentation on experiences and synthesis on interlinking with WISE-RTD
Workshop 9 : Adaptive water management linked to WISE-RTD (NeWater) Facilitators : Britta Kastens (NeWater), Fred Hatterman (PIK) Exchange information on aim and construction of Adapted Water management guidance in WISE-RTD. Topics to be treated are :
Introduction on Adaptive Water Management
Implementation guidance on AWM in WISE-RTD
Demonstration
Discussion & synthesis / future developments
>> Presentation on Adaptive Water Management linked to WISE-RTD
