Task 3.3 : Matching with WFD RTD solutions to the river basins needs
Once the most important needs of the two river basins had been identified via an analysis of pressures and impacts, the results of the report have be used to identify the most pertinent mechanism(s) that could be proposed to satisfy their needs. A search for guidance, tools, initiatives, research projects, etc. which offer possible solutions to the practical areas with need of improvement of the river basins has been carried out in the WISE-RTD web portal ( www.wise-rtd.info).
Technical visits to EU-river basins Two visits to EU river basins have been organised for both pilot river basins in spring 2008 with the objective to enable the partners to learn about specific aspects they are interested in and/or to focus on the application of determined aspects of the WFD.
Task 3.4 : Development of recommendations Guidelines and recommendations on how to transfer Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) practices to non-European counties have been developed by the SPI-Water project partners. A detailed report and a summarising leaflet are available and can be downloaded here. The leaflet is available in English, French and Spanish.
Both documents provide detailed and specific recommendations, as an answer to non-EU countries needs focusing on WFD principles, on how EUWI / WFD joint process activities can best facilitate the implementation of IWRM. |
